Working after CNY break.

Had a uber long break since Thailand.. Stomach virus granted me 3 days of MC, followed closely with CNY and after that took days of off to rest and recuperate. So I think I haven't been to work for like 3 weeks? haha and I know that work are piling up on my table as I blog, but I have came to realise really what matters most.

Given the 24 hours daily, I would already be spending 10+ hrs at work and previously very often you would still see me in the office way beyond working hours. So I decided to really priortise my time and energy because, as much as I want to, I can't possibly do everything. Have do those that are of real importance and worthwhile. I know all this sounds very self-centered but in the past, my life has been really screwed because I wasn't focusing on anything. I was just trying to do everything and ended up I couldn't do any of them to the best I could.

Top 3 Priorities

1. Spend more time with God and serving Him.
2. Treasure my wonderful family on earth and striking a win-win situation to the conflict in religion.
3. Make a conscious effort to keep in contact with all my friends.

Of course putting my best at work and educating the young minds to love their nation is important too. But like I have said, work really should not overrule living as a person and I will not repeat the same mistake again. Well shall keep to 3 priorities first because I am already having difficulty to fulfill them.

This year's CNY is really lacking in mood for me. Firstly I was away at Thailand during the preparation phase for CNY. (Love shopping for new year goodies!) Secondly, hit by the virus just days before CNY. And lastly, my relatives are shrinking! As in somehow we are not visiting few of them this year or some simply didn't come for reunion dinner? Weird right? How can people skip reunion dinner? Yup so CNY is kinda losing its meaning to me.. AH hope next year's CNY will be better!

Tmr will be my last resting day before Monday comes. Ah God pls give me strength to face the mountains of work when i get back. =)

V-Day at CGH

Guess how i spent my Valentine's Day?

My Venue & Time: CGH A&E Room 6, 14 Feb 1am
My Date: Dr Yap Ruixin
My Present: Something so intimate yet painful.... A packet of 0.8mol saline and an injection

2 days after coming back from Thailand, I am down with serious diarrhea. Wanted to bear with it and hope that it will subside eventually. But it was too much for me to take, because I was heading to the toilet every 2 hours. So after a day of torture and feeling dehydrated and weak, my Dad got me to CGH A&E to see the doctor.

Dr Yap was shocked when she saw me. She said I was too dehydrated and immediately put me on drip with an injection to stop the diarrhea. The drip and injection had immediate effects on me man! The diarrhea stopped almost immediately and I was discharged the next day.

But as soon as the effect of the jab was over, i began visiting the toilet again~!~! Ah damn it la~!

Although now the frequency is lower now, I am still feeling damn weak and bloated. My stomach seems to have stopped digesting. After I had my breakfast, I have been feeling very full and bloated in the stomach till now.

The worst is... CNY is coming soon!! Ah better recover within these 2 days man. I dun wan to miss this festive season!!

Back in Singapore.

Yep. Just landed at Changi Airbase at about 7 pm.. (note that is Airbase not Airport!)

The flight back to Singapore was 4h 30min long! the longest trip I have ever taken to Thailand. Fokker F50 is just too slow.... only 2 pathetic propellers =|

Anyway yup enough of the trilateral exercise. Now back in Singapore, it is time for me to take a break and prepare to coach the upcoming cadets and specialist of mine. And also need some time to help out the spring cleaning at home and spend quality time with them. Miss them so much when battling the cold night in Thailand.

A lot of things happened during my absence to Thailand.. and mostly are sad issues.

1. missed a friend's birthday party,
2. friend's daddy got hospitalised,
3. friend's house got broken into,
4. parents got into a big fight.

Hai.. mixture of small and big issues. And the worst is... there is so little I can do to help. Ahhh.. will keep them in prayers. Need God's direction!

Read a very interesting book when training in Thailand. Talks about living a Purpose Driven Life in 40 days. Well it says that I am supposed to read 1 chap a day so that I will finished it in 40 days while giving enough time to reflect on each chapter daily. Okay i didn't follow the instructions but nonetheless the book has given me new insights about knowing and living with God. The book has a great impact on me as it answered many of my questions about following God.

Now everything makes sense to me and definitely would recommend any young Christians to read it... "Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren".

Cheers!~

In Lopburi Town

Ok gonna make it a fast one! cos the LAN shop is closing soon.

Yup I am in Lopburi Town, Thailand now... for the purpose of the country. And this trip really makes my job meaningful again becausing protecting the country becomes so real and immediate!! Ok wouldn't say too much as it is rather sensitve now. (Singapore just won Thailand 2-1 somemore!!!) So yup wait till i am back den talk more k.

I like Feburary.

1. Valentine's Day ( not that I am attached though.. but it is still nice to feel the love in the air)
2. CNY (all the angbaos and food!!)
3. Many birthdays (Zhanghao, Ven, Peiqi and a lot more!... but that means need to buy more present also)
4. A short month! (work less for more money!)

The weather here is extremely cold... freezing at 19 degree Celcius!! And everyday I have to bathe from the pool of water with everyone else.. Like drinking the brain freeze in 7-eleven everyday! I never thought that Thailand can be this cold.

But the high side is the food here. Everyday I would look forward to the mealtimes. The field ration here tastes like homecooked food! There is even tonic soup to keep us warm out at the field. It is so fortunate to be a Thailand soldier la!! All the soldiers here are so honoured to serve their country and in fact the family would be very proud of their sons if they choose to serve and protect the country as a career. Unlike back in our small island, people need to be forced to join and those who signed on like me, often get the burning question - "Why you signed on ah?" "Out of your mind?". Hai this is so pathetic in comparison to the Thai Forces. Serving with pride indeed!

Nonetheless, the trip here has been eye-opening. Training can't be anymore realistic and bonding with the guys can't get any closer. It is true that only through tough times then you will make friends, friends that you can depend on forever.

Everyday waking up to the cold gust out in the field. I had to drag myself to set up all the things needed for training. And the worst feeling comes from the hands, I can put on a jacket and blanket but somehow both hands will wake up freezing in pain everyday. But when I see all my guys, from Jieren as 2IC to my specs the 3Js and my operators also suffering but still pushing on to complete their tasking. I just couldn't make any excuse not to work even harder as their PC. They are my motivation here and they are the ones who makes it worth it.

Will update again when I'm back! Cya
